I’d been too old for a babysitter for a few years, but my sister still needed one when she was home alone. I had been about to go out with friends when I saw who my parents had hired to watch my sister, Kim.
Kim the most popular girl in school.
Kim the cheerleader.
Kim who had never said two words to me. She was in my house.
“Hey Chris. Your sister is cute,” she said as she left my sister’s room after tucking her in for the night.
I shrugged, deciding to try something risky. “Yeah well she’s cute when she’s sleeping. When she’s very tired and goes to sleep.”
Kim nodded.
“Do you ever feel that way, so tired that you just need to sleep and you feel like your eyes could close and you could just sink into a deep sleep? Sleep, sleep.”
I had pinned her to the wall and kept eye contact. The repeated statements of tiredness and sleep suggestions worked quicker than I had expected. She blinked a few times then I snapped my fingers and said it again, “Sleep.”
She feel against me, limp and loose. I smiled, knowing when she woke up things would be much different.
I like the pinned against the wall part. I kind wish the story was more elaborate though!
There’s a limit on how long posts can be using the iOS app which is how I wrote 90% of my posts. Thus I tend to be briefer than I might like.
Wrong blog. Stupid iOS.
