“I cuhhh…” Every time she tried to talk, the light flashed. There was something so strange about the flashing light–it was blindingly intense, to the point where it stung her eyes with an instant of pain that hammered apart her train of thought and left her seeing spots for ages, but it was also…complex. She felt like she saw an intricate pattern in that light, one that danced on her retinas in the afterimage and made her blink again and again just to see it.
“You nnnnnhhh…” She tried closing her eyes, the first few times–at least, she thought she remembered doing that. But the light got brighter with every word, until she could see the swirling patterns right through her eyelids, and then it flashed even brighter than that until she forgot what she was going to say again. And by the time she remembered, she forgot she was trying to close her eyes.
“Please stuhhh…” She should look away, she realized. Look away or walk away or just stop staring at the screen. But she only thought of that after she started trying to talk. After the light blasted her thoughts to fragments. Why was that? What was she trying to say? What was she going to tell them? She struggled to think. Her mind seemed to be lost in the patterns overlaid onto her vision. She tried to speak again.
“I wohhhh…” The light flashed. “You haaaahhhhh.” The light flashed. “You muhhhh.” The light flashed. “I–” The light flashed. “Guh.” The light flashed. “Muh.” The light flashed. “Hhh.” The light flashed.
Finally, she sat there, her mouth hanging open. Trying to think of something to say that wouldn’t trigger another flash. Trying to think of something to say at all. She didn’t even notice the saliva dripping onto her tits. She’d long ago stopped noticing that they were exposed.
There was a long period of silence. Eventually, someone came in and affixed sticky electrodes to her temples. She wondered what they were doing, but she couldn’t make the thoughts resolve into speech anymore. Finally they left.
She started to wonder what would happen next, but…every time she tried to think, the light flashed.
