Classism in a nutshell

It’s not classism, it’s the law. Robbing a bank carries heavier penalties than fraud, even though a bank robbery is a lot less profitable and a lot more risky than fraud (honestly you’ve gotta be pretty dumb to rob a bank these days).

Well, yes, but that’s because the law is classist. You can argue over whether classism is the original reason that robbing a bank carries higher penalties than fraud, or just the reason we haven’t changed the relatively low penalties for white-collar crime, but you can’t argue that the law doesn’t enshrine classism.
