A Jewish perspective on reproductive justice and birth control access from twitter user @lechatsavant.
IDK about other Jews, but I want all goyim who see this – especially American goyim from Christian backgrounds – feel free to keep this in your pocket the “freedom of religion” birth control argument comes up. In fact, I encourage you to use it.
Noted. Not from a Christian background, but almost everyone I talk to about this is.
I want to reiterate that first point: Judaism requires abortion to save the life of the mother. Not allows. REQUIRES. At any point in the pregnancy.
Judaism also does not differentiate between threats to life: it is irrelevant whether the danger to the mother’s life is for medical reasons, mental health reasons, even financial reasons.
Any restriction on abortion whatsoever is a violation of the religious freedom to be an observant Jew.
