A Jewish perspective on reproductive justice and birth control access from twitter user @lechatsavant.
IDK about other Jews, but I want all goyim who see this – especially American goyim from Christian backgrounds – feel free to keep this in your pocket the “freedom of religion” birth control argument comes up. In fact, I encourage you to use it.
Noted. Not from a Christian background, but almost everyone I talk to about this is.
I want to reiterate that first point: Judaism requires abortion to save the life of the mother. Not allows. REQUIRES. At any point in the pregnancy.
Judaism also does not differentiate between threats to life: it is irrelevant whether the danger to the mother’s life is for medical reasons, mental health reasons, even financial reasons.
Any restriction on abortion whatsoever is a violation of the religious freedom to be an observant Jew.
You just took that and went to fucking everywhere. No. Judaism requires that abortion is used TO SAVE THE MOTHERS LIFE. Not the mothers financial situation or graduation prospects. 99% of abortions have nothing to do with saving the mothers life.
Not according to my synagogue.
