Captain Alpha knew it was dangerous, even as a joke. Her actual superheroic abilities were so similar to that of a certain fictional heroine that it was almost worthy of an Internet parody. So, for Carla Cant, mild-mannered reporter, to wear a Halloween costume like Superbgirl from the comics, that was just playing with fire. That was the kind of thing that would put ideas in people’s heads; ideas that could get her secret identity discovered.
Maybe it was the danger of it that gave Captain Alpha such a thrill. That must be it.
There was no other explanation why she would receive a text from an unknown number suggesting the costume and rush right out and put it together in time for the Skarlette City Clarion’s Halloween party. It had to be the thrill of possibly getting caught that had her obeying the text to slip into the bathroom and take a selfie in the costume.
As she held up the phone, part of Captain Alpha knew that something was wrong. She knew that she shouldn’t be doing this. She should be continuing her hunt for the Mesmerist. She should be trying to figure out how the Mesmerist possibly escaped her last night. Her memories were so fuzzy.
But when the next text arrived, none of that mattered. All that mattered was how turned on she felt, and how much hotter she would feel when she obeyed the text. Going back to the party and stripping out of this costume while flying above the crowd of reporters and photographers would be dangerous.
But the only thing that turned her on more than danger was obedience to the Mesmerist.
